Mud Village

Story:

Security forces have been sent to find out what happened to the missing helicopter which disappeared on the radar at the Desert highway, near old beehive village. Village consist of houses made of mud and resemble the look of beehives. Mission goal is to find out the remaining survivors and to eliminate any Insurgents found in the area.

Map starts on a desert highway, where Security Troops have blown up an entrance through Insurgents defenses. Security start near transportation helicopter on the desert and Insurgents spawn in the mud village.


Main Objectives

Objective A: Gas Station

Security forces must across the road and capture the gas station. Insurgents have dug trenches near it, which gives them cover. Smoke screen is recommended when crossing the road.

Objective B: Old Tower

Next objective is old building with a Tower. Attackers must enter the village which is made of mud houses. There is multiple lanes to attack. Middle lane goes through multiple houses and focuses on close-quarters combat, while lanes on right and left side of the map are more open. Left side also has ravine pathway, which is good for sneaky flanking. Stairs lead to the tower, where you can overlook the map through the most of the match. Great spot for snipers!

Objective C: Headquaters

Inner ward area which is circled by mud houses.

Objective D: Ravines

Big ravines with multiple pathways to the objective area. Right flank has rope bridge crossing a big ravine which leads the final objectives. Many lanes to attack. Smokes and molotovs in here are very useful to block paths. Mostly close-quarters combat focused.

Objective E: Hideout

Ravines lead to secret hideout where insurgents have started to build shelters inside the cliff walls. Destroy the final weapon cache.

All game modes are supported and have day/night scenarios.

Insurgency Sandstorm 2020 mapping contest:

Game modes to be judged on the contest, Push and Checkpoint. Both are designed foremost for Security Scenario with day setting and that is my preference for Push and Checkpoint game modes. All the other game modes included are fully supported as well.


Developer Notes:

I have spent a lot of hours on this map with a goal to make something different with the desert environment and something that people hopefully will enjoy to play. Map starts as a big and wide with the long range battles and then transitions into smaller close-quarters battles. Lanes are made so there is choice for players preferred play style, whatever it is short, medium or long range fights.

The map is mostly made out of over 40 new custom models, most unique being the beehive shaped houses, modular trench kit, cliff pack and the rope bridge. Intention was to give the map unique look and to stand out. All the new models are made by me, with Blender 3D. Every model is optimized and has proper collision. Quality in everything is made to match the official maps. Game modes are set in same way as in the official maps.

Insurgents fire support "Rocket barrage" range shortage occurred.
(Rocket does not reach the last point.)

Thanks! Yes, this map has fully supported Frontline. I would be really interested to see how that plays on full server. For the setting, I wanted to make a map that is set in the desert, so I did some research and found some interesting real-life locations and took the inspiration from the images I found, so even though the map may seem fictional first, its actually very realistic.

Very well optimized for how much of the map you can see from the south edge of the map. It seems like the bots have some pathing issues between A and B on Push Security. On C, I do not think the tower(s) should be inside of the objective region. The map features short, medium and long-distance combat in a believable and consistent setting. The nighttime version of the map is definitely too dark, even for night vision. I think this should be improved by increasing the moonlight brightness and adding more light sources.
Other than that, this map is very unique in terms of assets used, which fit well within the theme and look natural, and the 3 different regions you find yourself in while playing the Push gamemode. Great map, hope to play more of it!

This map is absolutely amazing! Kinda sad that some parts of the map are not being used. For example the bridge, really didnt know it existed.

Thank you! Map is quite wide, so some areas I unfortunately have to leave out for Checkpoint mode to work. I'm sure the bridge will be used more on Push and other PvP game modes, as a flanking route. I'm currently working on adding Checkpoint Insurgents side of the Coop. I can try to get that bridge more utilized on that mode.
